Your Own Little Corner.

After many months - and one long weekend - your room is finally ready for you! We started working on your nursery a while ago, but last weekend we put put it all together and now it is complete! And I have to say - it's my favorite room in the house : ) I just love how it turned out and I can't wait to have you in there!

We spent Saturday afternoon shopping for all of the last minute things we needed for you and then doing your (adorable!) laundry and getting everything all set up. The crib is made up, pictures are hung, diapers are organized, clothes are washed and put away, and toys are ready to be played with - now all we need is you my dear : )

Here is your very first load of laundry - and goodness it was so much fun to fold all of your teeny-tiny clothes! I am a little worried about your itty-bitty socks getting lost quickly, they're just SO darn small!!
All folded and put away - just waiting to be worn by you :)

And finally - here is your room, your own little corner, just waiting for you!

I am just so happy with how it turned out - colorful and cheery, but still calm and relaxing too. I hope you'll love it just as much as I do :)

A Work in Progress.

Slowly but surely, we are making a room for you feel cozy and warm and fun. So far we just have the basics, but I'm sure we will fill it up quickly! I picked up your new dresser and nightstand last night after work then your dad and Grandpa P. brought them into the house for me. They look great in your room and they match the crib and glider perfectly!! I hope that these are peices that will grow with you for many, many years. So here is what we have so far... here is what is waiting for you:

Of course, Leo thought it was time to play!!

Hope you like it so far! It definitely needs some decorations and lamps, and of course all sorts of baby stuff - but we're on the right track :)

Nursery Progress & Appointment Update.

Last Thursday was our monthly doctor check-up and everything went great! Your dad wasn't able to make it to this visit so luckily nothing too exciting happened. It was a pretty standard appointment, the doctor took my weight and blood pressure, measured my belly and then listened to your heartbeat for a bit. Everything was just measuring just right, so it looks like we are both on track. We have been going to the doctor every four weeks, but now that I'm getting farther along we will start going more frequently. I have another appointment at the beginning of May and then after that we'll go every other week for a while, and then it will be every week! When the doctor told me that, it surprised me a bit - I knew that at some point I would be going every two weeks, but it really hit me that we are getting close when she explained that it would be sooner rather than later! I can't believe we are actually getting so close to meeting you :) :)

In other news, the rocking chair & ottoman that your Grandma & Grandpa P. bought us for your nursery arrived last week so your dad and I went to pick them up from the store on Saturday. Of course there was some assembly required, so your dad spent Saturday afternoon working on that. I helped as much as I could too, and of course Leo wanted to be in the middle of everything!
 Reading the directions :)

 It's a chair! Minus the cushions :)

The ottoman was a lot easier... it came already assembled!
All finished! It is very comfortable - I can't wait to cuddle with you in it!!!
The crew - relaxing after their hard work!!

We had planned on refinishing a dresser we got from your dad's Aunt Kathy, but we decided to save ourselves the work and ordered a new dresser from the furniture store on Saturday. That way we can keep the other dresser for the guest room and your new dresser will already match the crib and glider :) The new dresser gets delivered on Wednesday, so I'm excited to pick that up and see how it looks in the room!! We're making progress and that makes it feel so much more real that we'll get to meet you VERY soon!! Can't wait :)

A Place to Sleep.

You'll be happy to know that you now officially have your own little spot in the house - your crib! The crib was delivered this winter and sat in the box down in the basement until this weekend. We decided that it would be a good time to move the guest bed out of (what is now) your bedroom and into the basement and then we could bring the crib upstairs. So Saturday morning, your dad moved the bed downstairs then brought up the crib - which was still in pieces.

One of the perks of being pregnant is that other people insist on doing things for you - so I got to sit and drink hot chocolate while your dad worked hard putting together your crib! It went together very easily, and your dad did a great job making sure it was nice and sturdy. I'm really happy with how it looks and I hope you like it too :)

Here is your dad - hard at work:

 All finished!!
Momma and Leo :)

Leo was very interested in what the heck we were doing!

The finished product - just waiting for you!!!
I can't wait until you are here to enjoy your first nap in your beautiful crib!!

Baby's Closet Upgrade.

This past weekend your dad and I were planning on going to visit your Grandma & Grandpa E., unfortunately the weather had other plans... It was raining SO hard on Friday night that we decided not to make the four hour drive in the dark and rain and stayed home instead. On Saturday, we decided to be productive and get a start on getting your nursery ready for you. The first thing we needed to do was a closet makeover! Your room is pretty small, so we wanted to make the most of the space we do have in the closet.

It started on Saturday, we first had to clean out all of the stuff that was in that closet - mom's wedding dress, wrapping paper, vaccuum, dad's dress clothes, ironing board, extra sheets, mom's dresses, backpacks, shoes ... you name it - it was in that closet! Here is the before:
Once we had everything moved out, we were reminded of the reason we needed to paint it - the lovely splatter paint and awful shelving!

Your dad tore out all of the shelving and hanging rod and then had to patch all the holes from the one trillion nails that were in the walls... Here he is - hard at work!

When I was taking pictures of him he asked, "Why are you taking pictures of me right now???" And I told him it was so we could remember our project. And his reply was this "You do realize that in 15 years our child is going be looking through old photos and find this one and say - Why the heck do you have a picture of Dad painting the closet?!?!." And I realized that he was SO right! Because that would be my exact reaction if I found an old picture like this of my dad :) So I guess now you know why I have a picture of Dad painting the closet...

Here it is, all cleaned out and painted:
While your dad was painting, I made a trip to the store to buy a closet organizer which we put in on Sunday. When I was screwing in the main support bar, your dad said "Do you really think you need that many screws??" I said that I want to make sure it is good and secure just in case you take after your Uncles and one day decide it's a good idea to hang from your closet bars ... Not that I'm encouraging that, but at least I know the whole thing won't come crashing down!!

Almost finished:

The last step was to put back in the adorable clothes and toys you've gotten as gifts. I can't wait to fill it up with more of the cutest baby stuff :)

And now you have a nicer closet than your mom & dad ... I hope you enjoy it!! I know I will :)
